Get Moving! (and for a great cause) The 13th Annual Susan G. Komen Breast cancer Foundation Race for the Cure will be help Saturday, October 6 at the Empire State Plaza in Albany. Check out the details below and walk/ run/ donate and/or volunteer for a worthy cause.

 

Race Day Schedule
Registration:  7:30-10:00 am (Race registration closes 30 minutes prior to the start of the co-ed 5K.)

Co-ed 5K:  9:00 am
(The man and woman who win the Race will break separate finish line tapes.)

Two-mile Family Walk: 10:00 am
Awards:  11:00 am (approx.)

The Course

5K: USAT&F Certified Course (NY05119KL).
(This is the 2007 Freihofer's Run for Women course.) 
Start: On Madison Avenue immediately west of the NYS Museum overpass.
Finish: On Madison Avenue immediately east of the NYS Museum overpass.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 
Race Day
The race will be held rain or shine.  We reserve the right to cancel in extreme circumstances.  In that event, there will be no refunds.  Rather, your entry fee will be used as a donation to the Komen NENY Race for the Cure.  Race management reserves the right to change the race course.

Chips
The co-ed 5K will use electronic chips to promote faster and more accurate results.  Finish time will be calculated precisely when you cross the finish line.  Chips can be picked up at Packet Pick Up or at Race Day registration.  Any participant who does not return the chip at the finish line we be charged $30.

Running (Bib) Numbers
Put your number on the front of your shirt at stomach level.  Do not cut, fold, mark your number or remove or pin through the pull tab at the bottom.

Safety Restrictions
For the safety of all participants, in-line skates and pets are discouraged from participating in this event.  Baby strollers are welcome in the Co-ed Family Walk.

Parking 
There is limited street parking.  There is free parking in the East Garage located on Madison Avenue between Grand and Eagle Streets.  The parking garage is a five-minute walk from the race course.  There is also public parking in the V-Lot under the Empire State Plaza.  There is a $2 parking fee in this lot and a photo ID is required for the driver and all passengers.  See the map of parking locations for directions.

Race Awards

Prizes will be given to the top three overall male and female finishers.

1st Prize One round-trip air transportation on American Airlines and/or American Eagle to any destination in the contiguous United States.
 
The top three finishers in each age division in each race will receive an award.  (Age divisions are made in five-year increments.)  A prize will be awarded to the largest team registered by September 24, 2007.
 
A special award will be given to the following five survivor finishers:  the top three overall breast cancer survivor finishers, the first place Master Survivor finisher, and the first place Senior survivor finisher. 
 

No awards will be given for the Co-ed Family Walk.
