Experience the vitality of the artists and venues of Albany at 1st Friday, an event dedicated to promoting the arts community in the capital city. Each First Friday of the month, the city's premier art institutions and galleries- from uptown to downtown, with Center Square in between- open their doors to the public, showcasing current exhibitions and collections. So get out, mingle, and enjoy this artistic event with gallery openings, one-night shows, local shops, restaurants and live music. Best of all- its free! The next 1st Friday event takes place April 4th, beginning at 5pm.
The 60th Annual Albany Tulip Festival will be held May 9-11th, 2008 in Washington Park. This beautiful spring festival celebrates over 200,000 tulip bulbs blossoming across Washington Park, creating a sea of colors just in time for Mother's Day! The Tulip Festival also includes a number of events including the street scrubbing on State Street, the Tulip Queen Coronation, Tulip Queen and Court Luncheon and the Royal Tulip Ball. This year's festival will also include art instillations, crafting activities and live music.
