Experience the vitality of the artists and venues of Albany at 1st Friday, an event dedicated to promoting the arts community in the capital city. Each First Friday of the month, the city's premier art institutions and galleries- from uptown to downtown, with Center Square in between- open their doors to the public, showcasing current exhibitions and collections. So get out, mingle, and enjoy this artistic event with gallery openings, one-night shows, local shops, restaurants and live music. Best of all- its free! The next 1st Friday event takes place April 4th, beginning at 5pm.

Alive at FIve! This Albany summer tradition has kept spirits high after work on Thursdays throughout the summer for 18 years. Each night the stage comes alive with music from national, regional and local artists playing a different genre of music each week. Start the weekend off a bit early by meeting friends and members of the community to enjoy the diverse musical talent presented during the series. Think of it as a huge block party with dancing, live music and cold beer, lemonade, a BBQ and more. A summer staple in Albany, you won't want to miss out in the fun.

On an unseasonably warm day in October (how fitting!), three staff members from The Albany Life jumped in the Mini and headed to Stratton Mountain after doing some research on the ski mountain’s renewable energy program. With ski season just around the corner (fingers crossed) we thought the mountain would be a perfect fit for an article on businesses “going green.”
